2020 has been a funny year, and staycation is once again on the tip of everyone’s tongue, if you need some inspiration where to book for the remainder of 2020.
Or maybe an early 2021 short break, this is the list of 6 Secret UK Staycation hotels is the one for you
1. BURNSIDE HOTEL, STRATFORD-UPON-AVON

Recommended because need I say more than “Shakespeare County”
Although this luxury boutique hotel only reopened mid to late 2019, turning what was a 19th Century manor residence in a hotel. It’s not in the middle of Stratford-upon-Avon, but is only 5 minute walk to Anne Hathaway’s cottage and merely a 5 minute drive to the most of the Shakespearean tourist attractions.
The hotel itself is fantastically refurbished and the bathrooms are genuinely jaw dropping.
If you want a tourist staycation or just a day in Stratford this is the place for you.
2. FEVERSHAM ARMS HOTEL & VERBENA SPA, YORK

Recommended because it’s tucked away in the heart of Yorkshire
Beyond the high street of the beautiful town of Helmsley, nestled in North York Moors National Pak lies this, luxury and very exclusive Hotel & Spa. This is a treasure for relaxation and ideal for any staycation, or just an excuse to visit Yorkshire.
Helmsley, itself has a Castle, some stunning walks along the River Rye and a few Michelin starred restaurants dotted around for good measure too.

3. HAMPTON MANOR, SOLIHULL

Recommended because its a family run Michelin Star, 4 Star Hotel for all the foodies
Yes – Family run hotel.
Off the beaten track, a stones through from Solihull, Birmingham Airport (BHX) and the National Exhibition Centre (NEC.) Hampton Manor is the former estate of Prime Minister, Sir Robert Peel, with history in every nook and cranny.
The Hill family who run the Manor now, have food at the heart of the hotels offering and a home grown ethos which very few can compete with.
Obviously with a location like this you can explore the shopping of Solihull , perhaps even Birmingham, with trains running from the local station at Hampton in Arden. Maybe even the centre of England sign at the local pub in Meriden too.
4. CAVE HOTELS AND GOLF RESORT, CANTERBURY

Recommended because you can use the “Chauffeur”
Benchmark for any hotel when they can use the word sexy and confidently say they offer the highest specification to immerse our guests in total luxury during their stay. Even their standard rooms are better than most if not all four star hotels in the UK.
Fire Pit Restaurant offers breakfast, Afternoon Tea and surrounding for an evening mean indoor or alfresco that, might make you want to spend your money in the hotel. Did I even mention Pool, Gym, 12 person Jaccuzi and oh an 18 and 9 hole Golf course.
Breath taking hotel on the door step of Canterbury close to Faversham, in Kent.
5. BERMONDSEY SQUARE HOTEL, LONDON

Recommended because I had to include one in “The BIG Smoke”
Slightly more left field than all the other recommendations, but, located in the (was) trendy area of Bermondsey, London, south of Tower Bridge.
The hotel itself is intentionally different, Graffiti on the staircase walls, bedrooms with desks built in, suites with attitude and style. And then we also have the Lucy in the Sky Suite with rooftop Hot tub.
London on your staycation list…? Bermondsey Square offers it all and has fantastic dining spaces too.
6. NEW BATH HOTEL & SPA, MATLOCK

Recommended because “Peak District” Mecca
This Luxury Hotel with open air natural spring fed thermal pool, is truly Peak District Mecca. The property over looks the Derwent River, offers Matlock on its door steps, the Black Rocks tourist spot and Gullivers Kingdom to boot. Not to mention the historical towns of the Peak District within driving distance too.
The hotel itself offers 54 beautiful individually designed bedrooms a base to explore, a romantic retreat, or Spa facilities to enjoy too.
No Better location or hotel in the Peak District.

Wow! All of these hotels look incredible and I haven’t come across any of them before so they definitely are a secret. I have been looking into a staycation for a while and I will be checking out the Cave Hotel and Golf Resort in Canterbury further.
Be sure to book via the link or mention my name at the time of booking… 🤩
The Bermondsey Square hotel looks really nice.
Who would have thought that such a luxurious looking hotel would be located in the South of London?
Thanks for sharing!
It’s my favourite hotel in London by far
These are such beautiful hotels! A staycation is something that I’ve honestly never really tried out, but in today’s world I might just have to give it a go. It must be fun to spend a few days in total luxury at one of these hidden gems. Thank you for the insight!
It’s my absolute pleasure to share these hotels and sometimes the R&R or luxury you need is right on your doorstep
Wow, thank you for this list. Judging from the pictures, I think my favorite would be the New Bath Hotel & Spa, Matlock. I love how the room looks so bright and airy. The white and purple color scheme is easy on the eyes. I can imagine opening the windows on a warm, breezy day.
It really is spectacular and the location itself is sublime too.
I am pleased you liked the list – thank you too
I can’t wait to travel. Hopefully, by the end of the year, we will be able to travel again. I will definitely keep these in mind. Thanks for sharing.
Well I’m glad you might be inspired Candy and I look forward to hearing which one you booked 😊
Hampton Manor sounds like a great place for us👍🏻. We can’t get enough of the U.K. and this would be nice for the next time.
We like the look of the Hampton one and the one in Helmsley. Definitely going back to Helmsley at some point – it’s such a quaint market town and has probably the world’s best bacon!
Helmsley is a little paradise also has one if not two Michelin starred restaurants – it’s on my return list too
I love secret staycation hotels as they are not very touristy and crowded too. Good you shared some good options in UK for staycation. I love the poolside of Fevershams hotel. The room of Hampton Manor looks very rustic and cozy. Even the modern look of New Bath hotel & spa is tempting me. All are too good that I am confused which is best.
I live in Mexico and when it was slowly opening, I found myself doing a lot of staycations! These rooms look nice and it seems like there’s a lot to do within the properties! I didn’t think pools were a thing in UK hotels though. How cold is it now?! Thanks for sharing and I am glad you had fun!
Wow thanks Trisha and most pools are indoors and those that are outdoor don’t open too often or are closing by the year… But come rain or shine let’s go
Great selection we may just have to try one or two out
